Liberty Flames College Football Pregame Quote, 12/30/2023
Opponent: Oregon DucksQuinton Reese
Q. Can you talk about preparing for the Fiesta Bowl, have you done anything differently, personally, more or less, to prepare differently than you would for a regular season game?
QUINTON REESE: We try to treat every game the same. And our preparation-wise, how much more can I get better throughout however many weeks or days we have to prepare for the game.
So nothing really changed. We don’t have to change the mac and cheese, as my coaches say. You don’t want to change the recipe at the last second. What we’ve been doing was really working, so there’s no need to change anything.
Q. What does playing in a New Year’s Six bowl game mean for you personally? And also for Liberty, as well as the conference?
QUINTON REESE: Personally, it’s just a blessing, because you grow up wanting to play in games that you used to watch growing up. It’s a blessing to be in this position and have a chance to showcase what we’re about.
And just for the university, another chance to show who Liberty really is. A lot of people aren’t familiar with our school. But we’re a Group of Five who is here to stay. So it’s going to be a good chance for us to prove that.
Q. In watching film and preparing for Oregon, is there anything you haven’t seen before during the regular season? Any difference in the caliber of the players, the athleticism? Anything new to get prepared for?
QUINTON REESE: Not necessarily because football is football at the end of the day. But just in the Pac-12, they throw a really bit more than we have seen in Conference USA. But football is football. So as long as both teams got a pigskin in there, the chances are still fair.
