WKU Hilltoppers College Football Pregame Quote, 11/01/2021

On this week’s rivalry with Middle Tennessee:

I think you kind of automatically adopt the rivalry with whatever team you decide to join. Everybody has a rival, there are enough people that are a part of our program that know that this is a big game. Our guys recognize the fact that Middle Tennessee is a good football team, and it is going to take everything we got to go win that game. Coach Stockstill does a fantastic job of getting his guys ready to play and they got a great staff there. So it is just one of those games you always look forward to every season and you know we got this winning streak going and the biggest thing for us is just taking it one game at a time and trying not to do anything but focus on Middle Tennessee and this rivalry and getting this win for our fans.

On what Middle Tennessee does well and scouting report:

They are a lot like us, they are a chip on your shoulder group. They play hard you can see it in their play every single week. They are coached extremely well; I know they do a good job from an offensive standpoint. Their offensive line is a physical bunch, they do a good job with the quarterback, they have two athletic quarterbacks, one of them got injured last week we will see how that goes. But the quarterback can run with it, he can throw it, they got good skill out there to go make big plays. Defensively they do a good job of getting the ball down, that is the one thing I have seen. When a ball pops, whether it is a completion or run, they get the guy down and limit those explosive plays. They just do a lot of good things, they are playing hard-nosed tough football and I would like to think we are a scrappy team and that is how I view them as well, just a tough team that tries to do everything to go win games. So I think you are going to see two comparable football teams out there that are trying like heck to go win games and it should be a really good atmosphere.

On former WKU QB Mike White’s performance on Sunday:

Just really proud of Mike, that is just Mike, the whole world got to see what Mike was all about yesterday. That was probably the proudest thing for me. He is just such a great person and such a good team player. Even watching some of his interviews you could just tell he is a really genuine guy. I think there is going to be a lot of momentum behind him now too, that is good to see. But man what a performance to go out there and throw for over 400 yards and three touchdowns and the best part was watching Mike catch the two-point conversion and seeing that reaction. I am looking for big things out of Mike moving forward and I don’t think this is going to be the last time you see Mike White out there showing his stuff.
