Boise State Broncos College Football Pregame Quote, 12/29/2024
Opponent: Penn State Nittany LionsSeyi Oladipo
Q. What’s your recollection of the Oklahoma big comeback by Boise State, and what does that mean to the whole team?
SEYI OLADIPO: It was part of our legacy. We have to respect what this game means. It allows us to know that the guys that came before me that are wearing the jersey I’m wearing now, to respect that and pay homage to people that came before me. It’s a big honor for me.
Q. How has Boise State helped you become the player and person that you are today?
SEYI OLADIPO: Honestly, I thank Jesus first, because that’s the first thing that Boise State has helped me grow in my faith and to be a man of faith and to have a head coach, he will start everything by saying, “thank you, Jesus.” It’s impacted me.
The world says you have to separate your faith in what you want to do. You don’t have to do that. And that allows me to now go out there and, honestly, play football better because I play for a champion.
-I- have friendships and brothers that also walk with me in that. So, it allows me to just feel love, what love is actually supposed to be, but also know what it means to be a hard-working man at the end of the day.
Q. What about the team chemistry helps you play on the field?
SEYI OLADIPO: Everything. Having a brother next to me, I can’t let him down. We have a mission, and he will do everything it takes to get this job done. I have to do the same.
Q. And how much do you think that helps on a big stage like this, where the lights are bright, the pressure is on? You have guys that you know and trust.
SEYI OLADIPO: I think everything. It comes down to the stage. The field will change. The lights will be on. They might be a little brighter than somewhere else. But at the end of the day, if you revert back to your training and revert back to the guy next to you that you have played with for 14 games this season, you will see the same results as long as you keep doing your job.
Q. I’m curious, as you think back on this season, are there specific games or plays, whether they involve you or someone else on the team, that stand out to you?
SEYI OLADIPO: I think my favorite might be Ashton Jeanty against Georgia Southern cutting across the field. There re parts of that play that people don’t pay attention to, where you see guys chasing him down the field, waiting for him to seal the loss.
The defense came out there and did their job. I think those two plays are the big ones.
Q. That Oregon game is brought up a lot with you guys because you played so well and they had such a great season. That game was four months ago at this point. How will that help you guys going into the game on Tuesday, even though it was long ago?
SEYI OLADIPO: It’s a game to know how well we play without shooting ourselves in the foot. We gave up two plays on special teams. We have to execute on all facets of the game. We can play with anybody. It allowed us to know it doesn’t matter who is in front of us. You have to do your job to win.
