Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Pregame Quote, 01/07/2025

Opponent: Penn State Nittany Lions
Jack Kiser

On Al Golden

Since the day he’s gotten here, he’s been the same guy that shows up to the facility and the same guy that gets up in front of the team, and you can just see the passion that he has for the game of football and the way he wants to play the game, the way he wants to see us play. And I think that resonates with guys a lot.

When you can listen to someone get up there on a Tuesday morning or Tuesday after a long day of classes, and they’re fired up about ball disruption and certain drills and stuff like that gets you going a little bit more. And s,o I think guys just really respond to that. And you know, over the course of the time he’s been here, you get a lot more comfortable with him as a coach, but also his scheme and his tactics and his methodology. And so, we’re just so happy and it’s good to have him.

Question: You mentioned coach Golden’s passion and joy for the game. How does he show that day-to-day?

Whether he’s talking about the drills that we’re going to be doing that day, you can just see the fire that kind of is lit inside him. You can just see him so proud of us, just little stuff like that, on a day-to-day basis, it means a lot to a player.

On Penn State running backs

They’re really good backs, big, physical, fast and don’t go down with one hit. They’re really good all-around backs, and they complement each other really well. And so, you know, as a defense, you just got to be one, you know, sound, fits right make sure you don’t give them a lane, but then when you get there you got to bring your shoulder pads, you got to bring your feet with you, and all the boys got to hunt together, and everybody has to have that pack mindset.
