Ohio State Buckeyes College Football Pregame Quote, 01/08/2025
Opponent: Texas LonghornsJordan Hancock
Q. You were here with Quinn [Ewers] for a year. What’s it like going up against him now?
CB JORDAN HANCOCK: It’s going to be awesome. He’s a great quarterback. Kudos to what he’s done to bring Texas to the playoffs. Yeah, good things for him.
Q. We had a chance to talk to Caleb [Downs] earlier this week. He talked about the different ways he’s being used on defense right now. From your perspective as a defense back, how impressive is it from the way he’s able to move around and be a factor in the defense?
CB JORDAN HANCOCK: It’s awesome. It represents his work ethic. Represents the details he looks forward to, the details he writes notes every week.
He’s the first person in the building. That’s just what he shows on Saturday. But there’s a lot of preparation going into the week.
Q. You talked about your versatility when we last spoke to you. How much does it help to have you and Caleb [Downs] who can move around and be all over the place for this defense?
CB JORDAN HANCOCK: It helps a lot. It gives us a lot of different looks. I can drop down in man, play zone. So it gives the defense a whole different look.
There’s a lot of stuff I can do within the defense, and that’s what Coach [Jim] Knowles has done for me.
Q. How much do you feel like you and the rest of the defense have been able to grow trust in Caleb [Downs] as you play with him more and gotten used to the way he plays on defense?
CB JORDAN HANCOCK: A lot of trust because he goes out there and makes plays and takes his craft serious, so that’s why we trust him a lot.
Q. What do you feel like two days before this game at this magnitude?
CB JORDAN HANCOCK: I want to get out here with a W and get one more week with my brothers. That’s what we want.
Q. How has the extended schedule affected you all, if at all?
CB JORDAN HANCOCK: You are talking about for our practices?
Q. Playing two extra games to get where you are.
CB JORDAN HANCOCK: We want to keep this group together. We’ve been through so much adversity and just the senior class and everybody from the freshman to the senior class, we just want another week together.
Q. The people in DFW have been freaking out about the weather that’s supposed to be coming. Are you from Ohio?
CB JORDAN HANCOCK: I’m from Georgia.
Q. You play in Ohio. It’s cold there a lot. Do you laugh at that?
CB JORDAN HANCOCK: Yeah. They said it’s going to be freezing up here. We came up here, and I am like, dang, it’s pretty warm up here. It’s great to be up here or down here, so, yeah.
Q. What’s it been like you mentioned the extended season. This is the first time in history the season is still going this far into January. If you win, you get another week and a half. What has this experience been like preparing for this many games?
CB JORDAN HANCOCK: It’s awesome. Our coach talks about it’s a one win elimination or one loss elimination tournament.
We just want to keep this team together. That’s really it. That’s what we are fighting for. That’s what we’re going to do.
