On transfer opportunities:

My parents raised me right. And I think that a lot of people nowadays, you know, they just jump in the portal the first chance they get, and the grass isn’t always greener, on the other side of that. It’s not always better on the other side of the portal, whatever other school that you go to. I found the school that I wanted to go to right out of high school, and, you know, Coach Campbell, and Iowa State ‚Äî that’s where I wanted to go, and that’s where I’m going to stay.

On facing high-caliber opponents in bowl games:

It’s a great opportunity. You know, the past three years, we played Notre Dame, Oregon and Clemson ‚Äî really, really good programs that, you know, earlier on the school wouldn’t have ever had the chance to play. So, I feel like, all these opportunities that we’re getting are just opportunities to prove ourselves, prove to ourselves and then prove to everybody else that we belong up here.

On the team’s accomplishments this season:

Everybody likes to look at all the other things, your record at the end of a season or something like that, but we like to take pride in everything that happens. You know college football, it’s hard. You don’t just get to these games like this, just just with luck or just playing — we sacrifice everything to be as good as we are. And we sacrifice everything to be in the position that we are.

On what it means to participate in Day for Kids:

It’s really good, and especially for the for the kids ‚Äî you know, we come out here and these kids probably look up to people just like us, and we’re out here spending time with them and making sure that they’re a priority.

On the differences between his and Breece Hall’s running styles:

Everybody in the running backs room kind of has a different way of running the ball. You know, Breece is very elusive and very strong, and I feel like, me, I’m more kind of just a strong back. I can get I can get out and use my speed as well, but I feel like I run my best whenever I put my shoulders down and put my head down and just run forward.
