Missouri Tigers College Football Media Day Quote, 07/18/2022
Barrett BanisterOn consistency:
Continue to show I can do things with the ball in my hands after the catch. I think I do a very good job of consistently securing the catch, getting open, especially in third-down
situations. The more and more explosives I create, I think the more and more coach will want to put the ball in my hands.
On returning to Mizzou for a 6th year:
Who wouldn’t want to play in this conference? Much of it stems from me being a walk-on. I dreamt of playing in these environments so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
On the Burlsworth Trophy nomination:
Being a nominee for this award meant a ton. Being from Fayetteville, I got to learn a great deal about Brandon. My grandfather was one of the coaches on staff that helped bring him to Arkansas. Being able to represent that and bring honor to his name by my play on the field I think is very special to me.
On being a Media Days representative:
It’s pretty crazy. It’s a progression. Fighting for your life trying to get someone on the team to know your name. It’s been a process and grind and a real testament to the people in my life who have poured into me.
On receivers he watched growing up:
The first person I really fell in love with watching at receiver was Julian Edelman. I love the way he plays with a lot of grit and with a chip on his shoulder, makes a lot of tough catches. I was fortunate enough to watch him in his prime as I developed as a receiver.
On his advice to younger receivers:
Be prepared for when your moment comes. Know the plays know how to do them at a high level … and trust yourself. Go out and do what you do.
On Head Coach Eliah Drinkwitz:
Great mix of humor, wisdom and competitiveness. A great football coach and life coach. I’ve received more coaching off the field about the man he is trying to create off the field. Very smart, punctual and detailed.
