Very disappointing outcome against Southern Miss. We expect to win football games week in and week out, but you’ve got to give them a lot of credit. They are one of the top teams in this league and they played really well. At the end of the day, we have to make sure that we clean up our mistakes. We have to take ownership, you know, take accountability to doing our job as coaches and players. This weekend will face a very good Middle Tennessee team with explosive weapons.

On the health of quarterback Mason Fine:

Mason was a full go today at practice, so I expect him to be fine, and we’ll see how it goes throughout the week.

On how the team is handling adversity:

There’s disappointment – all three phases, coaches and players alike – but we do get two options you can take it, or you can stand up and fight. That’s life. It doesn’t matter if it’s football games or what. It matters for some in their job, that matters in a marriage, and that matters with children. We’ve got to fight every day. You’ve got to find the positives and you’ve got to make sure you improve on the negatives.

On struggling to find offensive rhythm:

Execution. We’ve got to do a better job. Obviously, our job is to put them in the right situation. Period. That’s my job. I’m a mentor. I’m a leader. I’m a teacher, so I’ve got to make sure they’re in the right situations. At the same time, guys have to make sure that they’re locked in and focused throughout the week and they got actually they’ve got to make plays. It’s a two-way street.

On this week’s opponent Middle Tennessee:

I think they’ve got a very good football team, you look at their wins and losses, it’s not like they’ve had an easy road. They have a lot of weapons, and I think their quarterback does a great job. They like to run. He does a great job in the run game.
