Ole Miss Rebels College Football Media Day Quote, 07/18/2022

Cedric Johnson

Building off the success from last season:

I feel like we need to continue to have a bond and a brotherhood and continue to stick together and work together and not have any animosity towards each other. You know with the new transfers, it could lead to different things, but I feel like just staying together as a unit, inviting the new transfers in and welcoming them and loving them is the biggest thing.

Thoughts on co-defensive coordinators Maurice Crum and Chris Partridge:

I feel like his defense was pretty good. We were lacking on our third-down situations, but I feel like we did what we could and what we had to do. CP was already there, so I feel like him stepping up for us, it was just like not welcoming a new guy in. It would be different if we had a completely new guy, so I feel like him stepping in and we already love CP ‚Äì it’s like you’re the guy now. I feel like he’s bringing a lot more aggression and it’s going to be a lot more fun for everybody. He has a lot more packages, so I feel like everybody is going to have fun.

How does NIL affect the locker room culture?

I’d say knowing and respecting that they’re my brothers and his success is my success and that I am happy for the next man for him to be making some money. The coaches are preparing us, and the staff has been preparing us. They bring in people to talk about NIL and talk to us about things we have never even considered, like taxes and W-2 forms, so they are teaching us everything and informing us about everything.

Top three reasons someone should play for Coach Kiffin:

Trusting the players for one. He is extremely smart. He knows exactly what he is trying to do, and he is going to put you in the right position. And he’s got a lot of swag.
