Oregon Ducks College Football Pregame Quote, 12/30/2023

Opponent: Liberty Flames
Steven Jones

Q. How has it been preparing for the Fiesta Bowl so far?

STEVEN JONES: Honestly, it’s been pretty fun. We started at the beginning of this month to start preparing, looking over Liberty. This whole entire time, we have made emphasis to keep the main thing the main thing. We still have a job at the end of the game.

As much as bowl games can be exciting and these events, our goal is to win a football game, and I think we’ve been doing really well with that.

Q. What has it meant throughout the preparation to have Bo [Nix], Bucky [Irving], and Brandon [Dorlus] come back?

STEVEN JONES: It helps out. We made a collective decision to come back for the bowl game and finish strong. To have the leaders in the last game, that helps out. It’s nice having them on the field.

Q. How has Coach Dan [Lanning] helped prepare you throughout the season?

STEVEN JONES: One thing, he gave us different situations. He made a huge emphasis on situational football to make us aware of what’s happening during the game. I think that’s really helped us throughout the whole entire season.

Q. And going back to the Pac-12 Championship to this, how have you guys been able to shake off that loss?

STEVEN JONES: As we say all the time, our main goal is to go 1-0. If you don’t get that goal during the game, the next opportunity, you have to maximize it. I think we’ve done a good job of moving on to the next thing because you can’t let a loss beat you. We try our best to shake off that loss. I think we’ve done a great job of that and we’re ready to compete again this weekend.
