Penn State Nittany Lions College Football Pregame Quote, 12/29/2024

Opponent: Boise State Broncos
Jaylen Reed

Q. Are you as healthy as you have been all year?

JAYLEN REED: Yeah.

Q. Just from your film review of Boise State, what stands out about their offense?

JAYLEN REED: Ashton Jeanty. He’s done a lot of great things this year. A lot of people say that he could have won the Heisman. One thing that really stands out, he has 1,900 yards after contact. I feel that’s something that I have never seen. He breaks a lot of tackles. He does a great job. Boise State does a great job of utilizing his ability.

Q. Do you think having to play against Nick [Singleton] and Kaytron [Allen] helps you in preparing for the running back?

JAYLEN REED: Yes, I feel Kaytron and him are similar backs. They have similar games, probably one is just a little bit faster. But going against those guys every single day helps me prepare for games like this.

Q. James [Franklin] said you are treating this more like a business trip than some of the previous trips because the timeline is different and things like that. You have less time to enjoy it. Do you think it’s a little bit more stressful than the way it is now where you have a ton of games back-to-back?

JAYLEN REED: Not really. It’s the playoffs at the end of the day. It’s the Fiesta Bowl. It’s a great thing. It’s win or go home. We have an opportunity to keep extending our season. That’s why it’s a business trip.

Q. From the physical standpoint, do you feel it’s tougher playing extra games and how it wears down your body?

JAYLEN REED: Yeah, of course. But just the process we do every day at Penn State, the way they take care of our bodies, they do a good job of making us hold up until the end of the season.

Q. What are some of the keys to recovery that you have been harping on?

JAYLEN REED: Just less time off our feet in practice, less time off our legs. It’s the legs that get you at the end of the season, stuff like that.

Q. And Zakee [Wheatley] recently made the choice to come back next year. What do you think you will see from him?

JAYLEN REED: I feel that’s a great decision for him to come back, up his NFL draft. That will be a good thing. We expect big things out of Zakee and Big Ten accolades, and I know he will do great things in the future.
