On his personal and team goals this season:

The vibe has been focused, getting ready for the season, being prepared. The goal is to keep working hard every single day. We have stuff to accomplish. We have to put in the work to accomplish those things. I can make more plays, by tackling and being more aggressive, more plays on the ball. I studied the film more so I can know what’s coming. As far as the team, I feel like we can make more plays on the ball. Causing turnovers is like fumbles, interceptions. We have to put in the work to accomplish those things.

On Defensive Coordinator Mike Elko:

I love Coach [Mike] Elko. I am thankful to have him. He did a lot for me. He helped me become the player I am today. He taught me a lot about defense. I learned a lot of things. They [Duke] are getting a great defense coordinator, a great guy. He is a good leader, so they are getting a great coach.

On playing against Alabama’s Bryce Young:

There are a lot of quarterbacks that did a great job in the conference, but he [Young] is definitely at the top. He is good on his feet and has a good arm.

On Texas A&M’s wide receivers:

Evan Stewart, he is a great guy. He works hard and is at every workout doing the right things. I feel like all our receivers are good guys. They work hard. The receiver group as a whole – they put in the work and are a great receiving core.
