Tulane Green Wave College Football Pregame Quote, 12/30/2022

Opponent: USC Trojans
Macon Clark

When you guys are emphasizing tackling, was there a point like, hey, I’m getting a little tired of the tackle technique and the season paid off?

S MACON CLARK: That makes it tiring, you do it so much. So we knew it was going to pay off, putting our trust in Coach [Willie Fritz], yeah. So it worked out pretty fine.

What have you seen from Caleb Williams?

S MACON CLARK: He’s got some good movement. His feet ‚Äì definitely contain him as a defense and do our job.

Where you guys were last year to this year, obviously it’s a huge jump, how much momentum do you get with this towards next year for this program?

S MACON CLARK: I feel like, for next year, I just want to keep the tradition going. Just the winning. And being at this stage, I think gives us a great test. Show the world that we’ve been working hard and how hard we’ve been working.

You guys beat Kansas State one year. And now you have another chance to beat another Power 5 opponent, do you look at this Group of Five, like flag‚ÄëBearing kind of game, hey, we’re going to represent that? Or you can’t look at that?

S MACON CLARK: I feel like it’s a good test. Put on for New Orleans, for our community, our team, for Tulane. So I know we have a lot of eyes on this, but the main focus is winning and doing our job at the end of the day. Like coach says every week, yeah, I think it’s going to be the game.

What can you say about coach Hampton’s ability to help with the defense you guys put out this year?

S MACON CLARK: Coach Hampton is a very smart coach. He emphasizes the little things. Doing our job, and a pretty good defense. And the main thing is tackling. Yeah, he be on us about that.
